Last year’s National League home run king Kyle Schwarber (30-Philadelphia Phillies) has reached the 30-homer plateau for the third straight year.
Schwarber hit his 29th and 30th home runs of the season with back-to-back arches in the leadoff spot in the first game of a doubleheader against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, on 9 September.
바카라사이트After retiring on a foul grounder to third base in his first at-bat, Schwarber lined a two-run shot over the right field fence off opposing starter Trevor Williams with runners on first and second in the bottom of the third inning with his team trailing 3-0. His 29th home run of the season.
Then in the bottom of the fourth, with the score tied 3-3, Schwaber again got to Williams with runners on first and second for a three-run shot, his 30th home run of the season.
He was stranded in the bottom of the sixth on a swinging strikeout. Behind Schwarber’s 4-for-5, two-homer, five RBI performance, the Phillies went on to win 8-4.
In addition to Schwarber’s two homers, the Phillies scored eight runs on four home runs, including a solo shot by Alec Bomb and a two-run shot by Jake Cave.
Schwarber’s 30th home run of the season was his third straight 30-homer season, following 32 in 2021 and 46 last year.
He also surpassed 30 home runs in 2017 (30) and 2019 (38). His career big league home run total is 229.
Despite being a firepower to work with, Schwarber is batting just .183 (77-for-420) on the season. That’s due to a whopping 149 strikeouts.
As of the 9th, he leads the majors in that category. Even last year, when he hit 46 home runs, Schwarber struck out 200 times, the most in the big leagues.
