Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted to see the current situation at Chelsea.
In an interview with British media ‘Sky Sports’ on the 30th (Korean time), Klopp confessed, “Chelsea is not doing well right now, but honestly, I like it.”
The reason ㅋㅋㅋ벳Klopp expressed his satisfaction with the Chelsea situation lies in Chelsea’s recruitment policy this season. Chelsea have signed a large number of players since being taken over by owner Todd Boley last summer.
Including last year’s summer transfer window and last January’s winter transfer window, Chelsea signed as many as 17 players. To bring them, Chelsea spent an astronomical amount of 600 million pounds (about 993.6 billion won).
Including Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mihailo Mudrik and Enso Fernandez, Chelsea have acquired many world-class players who have made a name for themselves in Europe, but so far they have not seen any effect.
Despite investing a lot of money and bringing many players, Chelsea’s 2022/23 season league ranking is 12th (10 wins, 9 draws, 13 losses, 39 points). It’s a ranking that never suits a Premier League powerhouse.
After Chelsea had a tough season despite having a lot of talented players, manager Klopp expressed his joy that his thoughts were proven in his heart.
“To be honest, I’m a little happy that Chelsea aren’t doing well,” said Klopp.
“Chelsea underestimated the ability of a manager to build a team and made the manager do the almost impossible,” he said.
“A manager can’t have two locker rooms, and you can’t train in two training grounds,” he added.
“Chelsea will be fine in the end, they will be incredibly strong next year, but I’m using them as an example,” Klopp said.
As Klopp insisted, Chelsea had a sluggish season despite huge recruitment and changed managers twice during the season, firing Thomas Tuchel and Graham Porter.
Chelsea appointed club legend Frank Lampard as interim manager and took charge of the rest of the season, but Lampard’s interim manager is also failing to rebound as he is currently on a five-game losing streak.
