Stadium changed to accommodate 100,000 spectators for Women’s World Cup opening game

Interest in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia-New Zealand, which opens in July this year, is growing. Reflecting the great interest of the fans, FIFA changed the stadium to accommodate more fans for the Australian opening match.

On the morning of the 31st (Korean time), FIFA announced on its homepage that “the venue for the opening match of the Women’s World Cup Australia will be changed from Sydney Football Stadium to Stadium Australia.” The reason is that fans’ interest and demand for the Australian opening game exceeded expectations.

For the first time ever, the Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The opening match between New Zealand and Norway will be held at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 20th at 4:00pm, and the opening 메이저사이트 match between Australia and Ireland will be held in Sydney at 7:00pm on the same day.

Originally, the match between Australia and Ireland was scheduled to be held at the 42,512-seat Sydney Football Stadium in Sydney, but after tickets went on sale, FIFA changed it to the 83,500-seat Stadium Australia due to demand that exceeded expectations. This stadium was used as the main stadium for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and was the venue for the 2015 Asian Cup final match between Korea and Australia. It was planned to be used from the tournament after the group stage, but was also held for the opening match.

FIFA predicted that the number of spectators for the official opening game in both countries would exceed 100,000 by changing the stadium. Eden Park, where the New Zealand-Norway match is held, has 48,276 seats. It is judged that more than 100,000 spectators will come if the Australia-Ireland match is added here.

“It is our goal to host the biggest and best Women’s World Cup this year,” said FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samura. We made this decision to provide our fans with an unforgettable experience.”

Meanwhile, the Korean women’s national soccer team led by coach Colin Bell will also participate in this World Cup. Belho competes in Group H with Germany, Morocco and Colombia and aims to advance to the round of 16 for the second time since 2015.
