The Atlanta Braves, in first place in the National League East, are looking to bolster their roster.

The Braves acquired right-hander Pierce Johnson, 29, from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor league pitchers Tanner Gordon, 25, and Victor Bodnick, 23. They then acquired left-hander Taylor Hearn (28) in a cash trade with the Texas Rangers.

Johnson has appeared in 183 games over six seasons in the majors, posting an 11-14 record, 24 wins, 13 losses and 13 saves with a 4.48 ERA.
Released by the San Diego Padres after last season, he started anew with the Colorado Rockies. In 43 games and 39 innings pitched, he posted a 6.00 ERA, 1.846 WHIP, 1.6 home runs per nine innings, 5.8 walks, and 13.4 strikeouts.
He served as Colorado’s closer and recorded four holds and 13 saves in 19 save situations. He helped the team climb out of last place and into contention for a championship.
Gordon, a sixth-round pick in the 2019 draft, went 5-9 with a 5.86 ERA in 17 appearances and 86 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season.
Bodnick, a 14th-round pick in the 2018 draft, went 3-1 with a 3.10 ERA in 30 appearances and 40 2/3 innings at Double-A this season.

Hearn made his big league debut with Texas in 2019 and spent five seasons with the team. In 92 games and 229 innings, he went 12-15 with a 5.11 ERA.
He struggled in four games this season, giving up eight runs in seven innings, and didn’t get many opportunities. At Triple-A, he was 2-2 with a 3.66 ERA in 24 games and 39 1/3 innings pitched.
