A spouse who marries a baseball player needs time to adapt to become a so-called ‘baseballer’.
At the beginning of the year, I often leave the house for several months due to field training, and even during the regular season, I have to count the days when we can be together at home.
However, the ‘new groom’ Go Woo-seok (25, LG Twins) does not have to wait for his spouse to adapt.
This is because his wife, Lee Ga-hyun, who got married on the 6th, is the daughter of LG coach Lee Jong-beom (53) and the younger sister of his friend Lee Jung-hoo (25, Kiwoom Heroes), so he understands the life of a baseball player.
Go Woo-seok, who visited Incheon International Airport on the 30th to depart for the LG Spring Camp, said in an interview with reporters, “I came out after saying just one word to his wife, ‘It’s the first season after getting married’.”
Considering the participation in spring camp and the World Baseball Classic (WBC), he had to leave the house for nearly two months, but he said, “If you need to understand, I’ll talk, but I thought (my wife was a person who went far beyond the life of a baseball player), so I just came out.”
The breakfast I ate before leaving for a long way was nothing special.
Ko Woo-seok said, “(as usual) he ate only vitamins in his raw fruit.”
From February 1st to March 6th, LG will conduct battery training at the San Francisco Giants Baseball Complex in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.
Ko Woo-seok, who is going to train abroad for the first time in three years since 2020, said, “I think it’s fortunate (for overseas training) because my body is naturally cold. Even though it’s cold, many fans came to the departure hall, so I feel like I’m 메이저놀이터 leaving.”
Woo-seok Ko will train with his teammates until mid-February and then move to Tucson, the training ground for the WBC national team.
As he is competing in the WBC for the first time, he has learned how to use the ball from Rawlings, the official ball of the tournament, in advance.
Compared to the KBO League official ball, Rawlings’ ball, which is also the official ball of the major leagues, has fewer stitches and has a slippery surface.
Ko Woo-seok said, “I have to touch and compare it with our official ball, but since it’s not that, I can’t feel a big difference yet.”
This is the first time Ko Woo-seok has participated in the world baseball festival WBC, which will be held in March.
The WBC, which is held prior to the start of the season, is burdensome for pitchers who need to build up early.
Go Woo-seok said, “There is no problem because I always built my body for demonstration games. My first goal is to spend a season without injury, and I only think about that.”
He continued, “I feel that my body changes every year as I continue to do high-intensity off-season exercises. The time to touch the ball has gotten a little faster.”
However, Go Woo-seok’s gaze is directed to LG’s team spring camp before the WBC mound.
He said, “There is no tournament right in front of me, and rather than the thought of meeting a major league player, I think of going to baseball the same way.”
