McIlroy, world No. 1, will be promoted to the Phoenix Open in February

Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), the world’s No. 1 in men’s golf, has confirmed his participation in the ‘golf liberation zone’ Waste Management Phoenix Open (total prize money of 20 million dollars) to be held in February.슬롯사이트

The Organizing Committee announced on the 13th (Korean time), “World No. 1 McIlroy has officially confirmed his participation in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which will be held at TPC Scottsdale, Arizona, USA from February 9th to 12th.”

This is the second time McIlroy has played on the PGA Tour since 2009. He made his first appearance in the 2020-2021 season and tied for 13th.

Starting this year, the PGA Tour has designated 13 special tournaments with greatly increased prize money and made mandatory requirements for top players to participate. In order to receive the ‘Player Influence Program (PIP)’ bonus, which distributes a total of $50 million to 20 players after the season ends, this rule must be followed. The Waste Management Phoenix Open is one of the top-tier events and is a must-see for McIlroy.

The 16th hole (par 3) is a specialty of this tournament, which is called the ‘Liberation Zone of Golf’. Huge stands are installed around the hall, and players can cheer or boo to their heart’s content while playing. It is also called the ‘Colosseum’ because it reminds us of a gladiator arena in the Roman era, and it is one of the most popular tournaments on the PGA Tour, with close to 300,000 fans flocking to see the tournament every year.

The tournament, which was held last year with a prize of 8.2 million dollars, has been upgraded to a special event this year, and the total prize money has increased significantly to 20 million dollars. The prize money also increased nearly 2.5 times from last year’s $1.476 million to $3.6 million this year.
