According to the Korea Football Association (KFA), the KFA notified the organizers of the friendly matches between Napoli and Mallorca that they could not be held on the same day.
The two friendlies were scheduled to take place on June 8 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium and June 10 at the Goyang Sports Complex.
The June 10 match was canceled on June 19 amid opposition from the Korean Football Association (KFA) because six K League matches were being held on the same day.
The KFA subsequently asked the organizers to reply whether they were willing to go ahead with the June 8 game, while also asking them to prove their financial capability to safely host big clubs from overseas.
The KFA’s reasoning behind these ‘conditions’ was to avoid any untoward incidents such as the ‘Ronaldo no-show’ situation that occurred when Juventus visited in the past.
The KFA gave us two options. It asked for a deposit of 1 billion won or 10 percent of the expected revenue from the first leg, about 800 million won, along with an insurance policy to cover unforeseen circumstances such as a player’s no-show.
However, the KFA did not receive the documents by 5 p.m. on the 25th, and the two teams’ visit was canceled.
